The tally of martyrs now stands at 33,482, with 76,049 injured and countless citizens still missing, buried under debris or stranded on impassable roads beyond the reach of emergency responders. Amidst this humanitarian crisis, with more than 70% of the victims being children and women, efforts by Qatar and Egypt to find a resolution to the relentless bloodshed face daunting obstacles.
Despite international outcry, the Israeli entity persists in its onslaught against civilian populations with air raids and ground incursions. In the latest assault, Israeli warplanes have continued to unleash a barrage of airstrikes on central Gaza, resulting in the tragic loss of several Palestinian lives and extensive property damage.
The Palestinian civil defense teams are having difficulties retrieving remains of tens of martyrs every day from the ruins of residential structures ravaged by the occupation's relentless bombardment. In a desperate bid to achieve its elusive objectives, Israel resorts to tactics of ethnic cleansing, genocide, and wanton destruction of infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, mosques, and churches. Israel has tried all means including depriving Palestinians of food, causing many to face hunger, and in many cases, death, due to prevailing famine among the displaced civilians in Gaza strips.
Despite these unprecedented measures of oppression and mass killing, the people of Gaza have refused to abandon their homeland or succumb to the enemy. This defiance only fueled the enemy's rage and frustration, exacerbating the irrationality of its leadership and military, which have lost sight of their original purpose of entering the Gaza Strip.
Facing mounting setbacks and public discontent, Israel seeks to deflect blame by escalating hostilities and targeting innocent civilians and diplomatic missions. Its failure to achieve stated objectives prompts reckless attempts to embroil other nations in the conflict, driven by a desire to prolong the grip of extremists on power. As Israeli's aggression escalates, neighbouring states must remain vigilant, recognizing the need to hold accountable those responsible for the atrocities committed against the people of Gaza. The international community must not turn a blind eye to these documented war crimes, or the suffering endured by innocent civilians in Gaza.
What the Palestinians are facing in Gaza at the hands of the Israeli occupation are war crimes, and the international community have a share in it because of the silence or support for the war crimes committed by Israel. Yes, it is a tragedy facing the Palestinian people, but it is also a difficult test for international law and for all of humanity, which stands unable to save the lives of more than two million civilians besieged from all directions and exposed to genocide.
