In recent years Qatar’s healthcare system has been transformed completely to meet latest international standards and has delivered extraordinary results like during COVID-19 pandemic. Qatar’s most advanced healthcare system with state-of-the-art healthcare facilities is also being recognised globally. Qatar has moved up two places in the healthcare index by Numbeo compared to 2023, showcasing the country’s world-class services, modern infrastructure, and substantial investments in the healthcare sector.

The country has been ranked 17th in the Health Care Index by Country 2024 Mid-Year, scoring 73.3 points. Taiwan tops the list of 94 countries covered in the survey. Qatar has consistently ranked among the top 20 countries by Numbeo and it is the only country in the region to make it to the top 20 list. Other countries in the top 20 include South Korea, France, Denmark, UK, Australia, Netherlands, Belgium, Finland, Norway and Spain. Numbeo is a widely recognised online database and platform that provides information about various aspects of living conditions and costs around the world. It aggregates data contributed by users and utilizes statistical models to generate comprehensive indexes and rankings.

The Numbeo Healthcare Index aims to evaluate and compare the quality and efficiency of healthcare services across various locations. It considers factors such as accessibility, affordability, and the overall performance of healthcare systems. According to Health Care Index by Country in 2023 and 2022 midyear ranking Qatar has been ranked in 19th place and in 2021 and 2020 Qatar was in the 20th position.

Recently, in a landmark development that heralds a transformative era for rehabilitation healthcare, Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), with the support of the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), have united to announce a pioneering agreement. This collaboration will see the implementation of the Rehabilitation Module of Routine Health Information Systems (RHIS) named the Rehabilitation Data System (RDS) in Qatar, marking Qatar as one of the first countries in the world to undertake this significant transformation. Also for the third consecutive year, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has received the renewal of international accreditation from the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB).

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has also designated the Food Safety Laboratories of the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) as an IAEA’s international collaborating center in food safety and quality for four years (June 2024 to June 2028).

The move marks the first-of-its-kind milestone in the Middle East region in terms of food safety and quality, through which the MoPH’s laboratories will work as an international reference for theoretical and practical trainings so as to conduct scientific research and tours in this field.
