Qatar has a world-class education system. The State has established an education system that complies with the highest standards of global educational systems. On Tuesday, Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani graced the graduation ceremony of the 2019 batch of universities of the Education City, which celebrated the achievements of 787 students, at the Ceremonial Court in Education City.

H H Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of QF; H E Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, Vice-Chairperson and CEO of QF; and several other dignitaries graced the convocation ceremony.  The ceremony was an opportunity for graduates from QF’s nine universities to collectively look back on their time and accomplishments at Education City and look to the future.

The ceremony served as an opportunity for young men and women to reflect on their experience within the unique learning environment of Education City, and to share their successes and stories with each other.

Qatar has become an academic hub due to its international reputation, its political, economic and social stability, richness and cultural diversity.  Latest technologies, educational and research programs are helping students to discover their creative potential and enhance scientific research skills in various disciplines.

The convocation saw graduates in fields ranging from medicine, engineering, computer science, and international affairs to art and design, communication, law, and Islamic studies join QF’s ever-growing alumni network, which already has more than 5,000 members.

“For our Class of 2019 graduates, convocation has many things: A personal and shared celebration, a source of pride, and a time to reflect on their achievements and experiences at Education City. It is a culmination – but it is also a beginning,” said H E Sheikha Hind.

“Every member of our Class of 2019 has recognized and maximized the unique educational opportunity that Qatar Foundation provides. Their academic excellence has been matched by their growth as knowledge-seekers, critical thinkers, and active citizens who are determined to be drivers of positive change. As embodiments of QF’s belief in what quality education stands for, and what it makes possible, they will always be part of our story – and we will watch with pride as they write their own,” H E Sheikha Hind added.

This year’s graduating class included 378 Qataris and others from 70 different nationalities. Among the students, 173 graduated from homegrown research institute HBKU, 129 from HEC Paris, 111 from Texas A&M University at Qatar, 68 from Northwestern University in Qatar, 84 from Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar, 49 from the Weill Cornell Medicine - Qatar, 78 from Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, 64 from the Georgetown University in Qatar and 30 from UCL-Qatar.

Qatar, no doubt, is taking care of its talented youth and knows that they are valuable treasures and that their capabilities must be developed. Qatar is moving way ahead to build a modern state that encourages education for all.
