Qatar’s tourism got yet another boost yesterday with launch of country’s biggest ever ‘Summer in Qatar’. The festival will attract tourists from all over the world and will make their visit to Qatar unforgettable.
The programme will offer opportunity for residents and tourists to avail discounts on Qatar Airways flights, hotels and malls and chance to win millions in raffle draws.
Along with this grand initiative Qatar announced to allow residents to invite and bring their friends and relatives in Qatar visa free during summer.
This announcement means that the citizens of the country who are not on the list of countries, which are allowed visa-on-arrival facility by Qatar, can avail visa free entry into Qatar.
Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC) on Saturday announced a season of summer experiences, retail offers and entertainment, that will run from June 4 to August 16. This year’s ‘Summer in Qatar’ introduces a wide range of exciting indoor and outdoor experiences, along with entertainment programs featuring local, regional and international artists, edutainment, summer and sports camps as well as special promotions on inbound travel, hospitality and shopping.
To deliver the program QNTC has brought together more than 30 partners from the public and private sectors, including the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Ministry of Municipality & Environment, Qatar Museums, Qatar Airways, Katara Cultural Village, Qatar Foundation, Private Engineering Office, Katara Hospitality, Al Rayyan Hospitality, Marriott International hotels, nine participating malls, and other event partners.
Summer in Qatar program will further strengthen Qatar’s position as the most open country in the region. Last year in September, Qatar became the most open country in the Middle East and the 8th most open in the world in terms of visa facilitation according to The World Tourism Organization’s (UNWTO) visa openness rankings.
The high ranking reflects a string of visa facilitation measures introduced by Qatar, including allowing nationals of several countries to enter Qatar visa-free and free-of-charge. As a result, Qatar’s openness score leapt by 71.3 points since 2014, when it ranked 177th.
Early this year, Qatar made to The New York Times ‘52 Places to Go in 2019’ list, showing that the city has become a must go destination for travellers around the world. Last year Doha was ranked among the ‘Top 100 City Destinations’ worldwide by Euromonitor 2018.
The new measures taken by the authorities will further develop Qatar as a year-round tourism destination for tourist all over the world.
