Israeli occupation authorities are continuing their irrational and mindless attack in the region killing thousands of civilians including women, children, doctors, journalists, rescuers, firefighters, relief workers, UN officials and more. This has been happening in the besieged Gaza Strip, other occupied Palestinian territories and now in Lebanon after they started bombing the country. Lebanon’s health minister said that more than 40 paramedics and firefighters had been killed by Israeli fire in three days, among 97 killed since Hezbollah and Israel began fighting last October.
The ongoing vicious war against innocent civilians is a genocide and a failure of the international community to break the deadlock and stop the aggression against Gaza. It is high time they stepped in and restored the credibility of the international institutions by taking decisive action to protect the Palestinian people by stopping the ongoing crimes against them and applied international law fairly and without bias.
Reasserting Qatar’s stand of rejecting and condemning the aerial strikes and escalating military operations unleashed by the Israeli occupation forces, Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani said in his speech at the opening of the 3rd Asian Cooperation Dialogue Summit, which is being held under the title “Sports Diplomacy,” yesterday in Doha that “Israel is exploiting the international failure to implement the occupation plans to expand settlements in the West Bank in preparation for annexing it, or at least annexing parts of it. Its rulers also believe that they can avail themselves of this opportunity to implement its schemes in Lebanon. The institutions of the international community stand helplessly by vis-a-vis this dangerous escalation of the Israeli aggression on Lebanon, which is spilling over day after day, in flagrant violation of all international norms and laws.”
Regarding the legitimate rights of Palestinians, His Highness said in his speech that “Security will not be achieved without achieving just peace, and this, in turn, will not be achieved in our region without the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, based on pre-June 4th, 1967, border with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.”
The relentless attacks on Gaza have been continuing for almost a year and according to the Gaza health ministry, at least 41,788 people have been killed and 96,794 people have been wounded in the Gaza Strip. As per various reports most of the infrastructure in the Gaza Strip has been destroyed, including hospitals, schools and residential buildings. Serious action has to be taken by the international community to stop the aggression by the Israeli occupation.
