Dolphin Energy gets award for sustainability innovation

Doha: Dolphin Energy Ltd has received the Sustainability Innovation Award for its role in the development of Qatar’s annual Sustainable Development Industry Report (SDIR) at the 4th Annual Qatar Energy & Industry Sector Report on Sustainability and Excellence in Sustainability Awards Ceremony.

Thirty six oil and gas operators who contributed to the report attended the event, an initiative of Qatar Petroleum.  

Adel Ahmed Albuainain, General Manager, Dolphin Energy, received the award from H E Dr Mohamed bin Saleh Al Sada, the Minister of Energy and Industry, and Dr Ibrahim Al Ibrahim, the Economic Adviser to H H the Emir. The sustainability innovation award was received for the company’s commitment to innovative stakeholder mapping and engagement. Dolphin Energy was lauded for highlighting its commitment to understanding its stakeholders’ needs and how activities affect different stakeholder groups.

Awards were given across seven categories: Excellence in Occupational Health and Safety, Excellence in Environmental Management, Socio Economic Contribution and CSR Activity, Sustainability Innovation, Best First Time Report, Excellence in Overall Sustainability Reporting and Excellence in Sustainability Management.

Albuainain, said: “Dolphin Energy is proud to receive this recognition which underlines our commitment to long term growth of Qatar’s energy sector. This second award is a testimony of our ongoing commitment to sustainable development, which is critical to the industry and central to achieving Qatar’s National Vision 2030.”

Dolphin Energy contributed to the development of the SDIR which aims to drive the implementation of sustainability within the energy and industry sector. The programme demonstrates the sector’s measurable contribution to national development plans and strategies, provides transparent data on the performance of the sector, advocates learning and sharing the best practices and encourages a culture of innovation and business excellence, in addition to supporting individual companies to implement sustainability management and reporting.
