Experts at IPTC tackle complex energy issues

The Minister of Energy and Industry, H E Dr Mohamed bin Saleh Al Sada, and Andrew Swiger, Senior Vice-President of Exxon Mobil Corporation partake in a VIP tour of the ExxonMobil Qatar sponsored Sheikh Abdullah Bin Jassim: A Leader’s Legacy exhibition, led by Dr Abdulla Al Sulaiti, Deputy Director for Research and Collection at the National Museum of Qatar.

DOHA: The third day of International Petroleum Technology Conference (IPTC) witnessed the presentation of over a dozen technical papers by energy experts from across the globe, who analysed new technologies and development approaches to complex carbonate fields.

The oil & gas industry’s heavyweights discussed the sector outlook and reviewed the technology advancements.

The conference is a platform to discuss and share perspectives on current and future industry topics, exchange knowledge and benefit from the expertise and capabilities of the participating countries and organisations, Qatargas officials said yesterday. 

Qatargas Chief Operating Officer, Engineering & Ventures, Sheikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Thani participated in a panel session titled “The Future of Integrated Project Management in a Cyclic Environment.” 

The Qatargas presentation highlighted its pioneering Jetty Boil-off Gas Recovery Project (JBOG) and other key environmental initiatives. Qatargas delegates are presenting several papers during the conference covering a variety of subjects that highlight Qatargas’ innovation, operating excellence and environmental stewardship.

Sasol, the international integrated energy and chemical company, showcased its expertise in gas-to-liquids (GTL) technology to industry stakeholders.

Sasol’s stand is set-up to showcase it’s international journey through the years, including the development of the ground breaking Oryx GTL plant in Qatar. 

Oryx GTL, being a pioneer in the commercial production of GTL participates in the conference to discuss various aspects related to the future of this industry. 

Rashid Al Fehaidi, DOT-Project Director commented:” IPTC is one of the important events in the calendar as it provides a professional environment for people interested in the Oil and Gas and related industries to get together in one place to share, discuss and debate key issues”.

Oryx GTL believes that the conference will add value to GTL industry in Qatar and forms an opportunity for to reflect on GTL’s success story on a global stage. 

An exhibition is also being held on the sidelines of the conference, in which Qatargas is participating as part of the Qatar Petroleum pavilion. Visitors will be able to receive first-hand information regarding Qatargas and its activities from Qatargas personnel at the stand. 

The free-to-attend IPTC Exhibition devotes 7,500 sqm to the latest technologies, new product launches and best industry services in the oil and gas industry. There is a Technology Theatre where companies will present visitors with information about their latest technological breakthroughs, commercial offerings and innovations in oil and gas technology. Five sections of the exhibition have been dedicated to Technical Discipline Zones where Drilling, Gas Processing, Geoscience and Reservoir, HSE, and Projects and Facilities will be the focus.
