Tunis: Tunisia’s oil production has declined, to reach for the first time 59,000 barrels per day from 115,000 barrels, since no exploration wells have been drilled over the last four months, for failure of licensing or renewal of permits,”

said Minister of Industry, Energy and Mines

Kamel Bennaceur.

The minister said during a seminar on “the Reality of the Energy Sector in Tunisia and Its Economic and Social Consequences” that no decision was taken yet on the licences submitted to the National Constituent Assembly (Parliament) since about six months, stressing the consequences of the decline in production on the Tunisian economy since 10,000 barrels per day provides annually about $300m.
