Qantas profits rise

Qantas Airways Ltd said compensation paid to it by Boeing over delays to the delivery of its troubled 787 aircraft totalled more than A$300m ($308.7m), including A$125m in cash, recorded in its first half results. Qantas Chief Financial Officer Gareth Evans said that underlying profit before tax for the six months to December was A$223m, compared with A$202m a year ago.
