Steelmakers to slash jobs

The sky over the iron and steel works of HKM in Duisburg, Germany, turning orange during a tapping of a furnace, yesterday. German ThyssenKrupp company, that owns 50 percent of HKM, is to slash at least 2,000 of some 27,600 jobs at its European steelmaking division and may sell some units.
