DOHA: The Cultural Village Foundation-Katara organised two lectures on Qatari Heritage in Katara Building 15 on Thursday.
A significant number of people from various nationalities attended the lecturers delivered by Saleh Ghareeb, an expert on Qatari traditions and Khalifah Sayed Al Maliki, a researcher on popular traditions.
They have lauded the role of the cultural village at boosting the cultural exchange through organising distinctive events and lectures that sought to introduce other Qatari identity and its popular traditions. The lectures, which delivered both in English and Arabic, saw more interaction among the attendees.
The discussions focused on the etiquette of hospitality and the mechanism in dealing with a guest as well as rules of etiquette in drinking Arabic coffee. Information about Qatari traditional customs for both men and women in different occasions and the Qatari cuisine and traditional food that fit in the nature of society were also discussed.
The lectures also offered a glimpse on traditional Qatari festivities such as Al Garanqao and Hyah Byah children festivities that connect them to their roots and traditions.
