Qatar and Azerbaijan to boost cooperation

Qatar's Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani met yesterday with Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov.
During the meeting, they reviewed relations and means of developing them, in addition to issues of mutual interest. The Minister said at a press conference Qatar aspires to more partnerships with Azerbaijan.
He added that he discussed with Mammadyarov cooperation between both countries in various fields, especially political and economic areas, in addition to cooperating in global forums and fighting terrorism and extremism.
Qatar is satisfied with the increase of Qatari visitors to Baku, hoping to receive Azerbaijani tourists in Doha, the foreign minister noted. Mammadyarov said that his country is keen to develop relations with Qatar and looks forward to strengthening the ties.  Meanwhile, the Qatar - Azerbaijan joint intergovernmental trade-economic and technical commission held its first session in Baku yesterday, in a friendly atmosphere dominated by a spirit of mutual cooperation and the desire to develop the bilateral relations within the framework of the agreement on setting up of economic, trade and technical commission between the Government of Qatar and the Government of Azerbaijan, which was signed in Baku on March 8, 2016. The Qatari side was chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs while the Azerbaijani side was chaired by Minister of Emergency Situation Kamaladdin Heydarov.
Heydarov welcomed the Foreign Minister and the accompanying delegation for visiting Azerbaijan, confirming the positive results of the visit of the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Azerbaijan in March 2016, which resulted in the signing of eight agreements.
He also extended thanks to the Foreign Minister for the success of his recent visit to Qatar on October 31, 2016.
The Foreign Minister thanked the Republic of Azerbaijan for the warm welcome, generous hospitality and good organization of the commission's session.
