Doha: The Educational Policy and Research Department of the Ministry of education and Higher Education concluded a series of seminars on educational research and developmental reports in the educational system for the third season of 2022.
By holding these seminars, the department explained its efforts to enrich educational research practices in Qatar, increase intellectual mobility, in order to inform interested and specialised people about the results of research and reports, and develop a culture of evidence-based research and the results of research to make educational decisions.
The first panel discussion was on the directions of high school graduates from Qatar’s schools to higher education or the job market during four years from 2016/2017 to 2019/2020, while the second panel discussion was on educational, social and psychological problems in Qatar’s schools.
The third and fourth discussions dealt, respectively, with the reality of national identity and global citizenship in public and private schools in Qatar and the report on the loss of education and addressing the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the results of the evaluation form, the seminars received positive feedback from the participants. Director of the Educational Policy and Research Department, Nouf Abdullah Al Kaabi, stressed activating the most important competencies of the department in the production of knowledge and raising awareness of basing on the results and recommendations of educational research based on modern statistical data and important educational indicators prepared by the Educational Statistics Section in the department, as well as the importance of employing scientific research in addressing the challenges of the educational system, by providing insights and putting forward alternatives and options, in order to support decision-making processes and drawing educational policies.
She highlighted the need to provide an opportunity for all concerned to see the results of these studies and research and discuss them transparently, which contributes to opening development horizons and raising questions that can make changes to improve the education system.
Head of the educational research section, Lulwa Rashid Al Nuaimi, noted that this type of research is a beacon to be illuminated when developing effective solutions to the problems and challenges of the public education system.
She appreciated the positive impact in terms of the concerted efforts of the departments in the Ministry towards achieving the objectives of the ministry’s strategy.
