Doha: Upcoming Qatari riders Essa Al Mutawa and Abdullah Naief Al Qubaisi will take part in the penultimate round of Asia Road Racing Championship as wild cards, this weekend in Doha.
The penultimate round of the 2015 FIM Asia Road Racing Championship will take place at the Losail International Circuit and the 2015 marks the 20th anniversary of the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship.
Begun in 1996, this championship has been, and still is, the only Asia-wide motorcycle championship.
For its 20th edition, the Asian series will feature a 6-round calendar hosted in 5 Asian countries: Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, Thailand and Qatar.
The number of race categories have also increased to five classes – two developmental classes, the Honda’s Asia Dream Cup and the Suzuki Asian Challenge, and the three open-make classes comprising of the Underbone 130cc, the new Asia Production 250cc and the SuperSports 600cc.
In the Qatar Round, there will be only 4 race categories competing as the Suzuki Asian Challenge will not race at the Losail track.
According to the provisional entry lists, in the SuperSport 600cc there will be a wild card from QMMF Racing Team taking part in this round.
The young Qatari rider, Abdulla Naief Al Qubaisi,  who is also taking part in the Qatar Supersport Championship, will be a wild card in the Honda Asia Dream Cup.
The QMMF President Nasser Khalifa Al Attiyah expressed his happiness to host again another round of this championship.
“This is one of the most important motorcycle championships and we are very proud that Two Wheels Motor Racing Sdn Bhd continues to give us their confidence to be part of this event and we wish them another 20 years more of success,” said the  QMMF President. THE PENINSULA
