Doha: As part of the General Directorate of Traffic’s plans to reduce traffic accidents, more mobile cameras have been deployed to catch vehicles plying at very high speed.
“The excessive speed is one of the main causes of accidents that result in fatalities and severe injuries, and in order to reduce traffic accidents, more mobile radars have been deployed on all internal and external roads to catch such violations,” said First Lieutenant Rashid Khamis Al Kubaisi from the Radar section of the Traffic Safety Department.
The civil and police patrols have also been intensified, with the aim of monitoring vehicle driven at very high speed using patrol's mobile radar, Al Kubaisi warned motorists.
Speaking on a video published on the General Directorate of Traffic’s twitter account, he said the penalty for excessive speed is to book the vehicle and refer the motorist to the concerned authorities to complete legal procedures.
The department stressed on the need to abide by traffic rules especially driving under the allowed speed limit.
