Doha: Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani yesterday attended the 17th annual award ceremony for outstanding students under the auspices of the General Authority for Minors Affairs, at Qatar National Convention Center.
Saad Nahar Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Authority, delivered a speech, praising the Premier’s presence for honouring outstanding students.
He stressed Qatar’s attention and care for all segments of society by developing their abilities to enable them to be active players in the country’s development.
Al Nuaimi said the establishment of the Authority comes in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, noting that the Authority’s main aim is to take care of minors and offer them social, educational, healthcare and support.
He said the Authority also aims to preserve investment of its assets and develop best practices in accordance with the provisions of Shariah governing the guardianship process for minors.
The Authority always seeks to provide favourable environment, and support for this segment to enable them to achieve success and excellence in scientific and social careers, and become active members in the march of progress and advancement of Qatar, he added.
Al Nuaimi congratulated all the honorees, including more than 500 male and female students who achieved outstanding levels during the academic year 2014-2015.
