Doha: Ministry of Interior (MoI) has urged everyone to be cautious while using self–balancing electric scooters inside the city roads.
A post on ministry’s social media page said: “People are using self –balancing electric scooters as part of sports and entertainment activities and sometime even to move in between short distance.
“People are usually treating self-balancing boards as toys and use it carelessly. Please note that you might get injured when riding a self-balancing scooter if not experienced or don’t follow the safety instructions.”
Among the suggestions it put forward are:

  • Before using these scooters, the rider should understand all the instructions that came with the device. He/She should also practice it indoor before riding outdoor to avoid accidents.
  • Hopping on a scooter may prove dangerous.
  • Don’t ride these scooters in rough terrain or in watery surface or while raining.
  • Avoid riding on barefoot and colliding with people or irremovable objects.
  • Wear helmet, knee-pads, elbow pads and gloves to protect you in case of falling or slipping
