Winter camping season in Qatar to begin in November

Doha: The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change announced today, September 29, 2022, the start of the annual winter camping season for the year 2022/2023, which will be held in the Northern and Central regions of the country from November 1, 2022, until April 1, 2023. It also decided to postpone camping in the Southern regions (Sealine and Khor Al Udeid) until December 20, 2022, and to extend it until May 20, 2023, as a commitment from the Ministry to provide the best quality of services to the campers and to ensure that they are not affected by this postponement.

Salem Hussain Al Safran, Assistant Director of the Department of Natural Reserves, said that the Sealine and Khor Al Adaid areas are designated to hold heritage and entertainment events that introduce visitors during the World Cup to the Qatari culture and the unique environment that it embraces, in preparation for the exceptional event in the history of the State of Qatar and the region. 

The registration for all regions for this year, it was decided to open the registration door from 16 to 27 October 2022, in three separate phases:

- Registration for the southern regions (Sealine and Khor Al Adaid) from October 16 to October 19
- Registration to camp in the central regions from October 20 to October 23
- In the northern regions from October 24 to October 27.

Registration is via the official website of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and the Ministry of Municipality or through the Aoun smartphone application, provided that the fees are paid within three days from the date of approval of the application electronically. The permit applicant has the right to cancel the camping application within ten days from the date of paying the fees.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change called on everyone to preserve the environment and conserve its natural resources through the use of alternative and environmentally friendly energy, planting saplings and trees, maintaining camping sites, and adhering to the controls and conditions related to camping, including adherence to the coordinates assigned to the camp and the distances between camps, farms, farms and villages, in order to to protect the Qatari environment, including lands, plants, wild animals, coasts and beaches, and migratory birds, from practices that are harmful to the environment during the camping season.
