DOHA: Qatar Charity (QC) distributed 900 copies of Braille Quran named “Baseera-Mushaf” to the visually impaired people in Indonesia. The distribution was made in Lampung in Sumatra and in bu Malang in Central Java.
The main idea of this project is that it provides a manual in Braille language that offers its users a list of Suras (chapters) to choose from. The user can also choose the verses and recite as he wishes, can repeat certain verses, can listen to explanations and can memorise the Quran.
In cooperation with a Malaysian company, QC was able to produce this Mushaf to a group of visually impaired people. This Mushaf will help them read the Quran in a deeper manner and easily listen to it. This product is considered creative and important because there are millions of visually impaired Muslims who cannot have a Braille-written Mushaf due to its high price and big size.
QC plans to distribute 1,100 new copies Braille Quran in Indonesia in four phases. The first two phases will be implemented in the second half of Ramadan and remaining two in the following month, said a statement.
Mohammed bin Khater Al Khater, Qatar’s Ambassador in Indonesia, lauded the project and said it was a proof of good relations between Qatar and Indonesia. “Distributing ‘BaseeraMushaf’ adds new fields to QC’s expertise. QC builds mosques and education centres, drills wells, and supports the visually impaired.
“I almost cried while seeing how enthusiastic these people were, said Muharam Ibrahim, Director of Religious Management in the district. They were so much into learning how to use the electronic Mushaf and helped their friends learn how to reach the explanation as well”.
One of the beneficiaries, Mahindra, said that Baseera Mushaf is one of the greatest gifts he had ever received. “I hope Allah would help me memorise and understand the Holy Quran. May He reward those who implemented this project”.
