Math exam angers high school students

DOHA: High school students of public schools have complained about the mathematics exam, part of the end of the second semester, taken yesterday.

The Art Section students expressed their disappointment as many of them could not solve all the questions.

The students ran a complaint campaign using a hashtag on social media platforms to underline the difficulty of the test which they described as “impassible” claiming that many of the questions were out of designated curriculum of the said semester.

The students emphasized that the questions were “too difficult to solve” and highly unexpected and did not accurately reflect their educational level in anyway, as all exam appearing students represented art stream. The students also stressed that the first semester test was appropriate comparing to this exam therefore they were shocked with an “unexpected test”.

Yesterday was the first exam at the end of the second semester of the academic year 2021-2022 for the General Secondary Certificate and the parallel track were launched, with the participation of 13,185 male and female students distributed among 74 schools.

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education had announced that it had taken several preparatory actions, and proactive measures for the exams of the end of the second semester which pay the way for transfer to the secondary certificate classes for this academic year 2021/2022, which are scheduled for the period from May 29, and will continue until June 9.
