Doha: Students from secondary schools across Qatar attended a ‘Training on Project Presentation, Safety & Security Management’ workshop ahead of Qatar Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math Fair (Qatar STEAM).
Qatar STEAM, an educational event organised by Qatar Foundation Research & Development (QF R&D), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), will be held from March 8 to 10 at Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC).
It aims to facilitate an environment in which the nation’s young scientists can thrive through first-hand experience of research. This aligns with QF’s endeavour to develop attitudes and skills to build a knowledge-based economy, bringing world-class education and career opportunities to Qatar.
Conducted in English and Arabic, the workshop was held to ensure participants are familiar with competition guidelines and assist them with final preparations for their research projects.
A total of 200 participants, 65 percent of whom are Qataris, will compete in the fair, presenting research projects on a scientific category of their choice.
Qatar STEAM Fair is a nationwide competition that welcomes students from secondary schools across the country.
It encourages creativity with scientific inquiry and helps students develop skills used in scientific communication.
Apart from being recognised as national champions, the winners of Qatar STEAM Fair also get a chance to represent Qatar at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) in the US.
Qatar STEAM Fair is held annually in March at Qatar National Convention Centre in collaboration with Qatar Foundation Research & Development (QF R&D), Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
The competition aims to facilitate research capabilities of Qatar’s youth, while engaging the local community and supporting the budding scientists who will be part of the next generation to lead Qatar into a knowledge-based economy.
