Ministry of Endowments stresses importance of qualification courses for Imams, Preachers

Doha: The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs stressed the importance of qualification courses for imams, muezzins and preachers in order to develop their skills and enrich their knowledge.

This came at the closing ceremony on Tuesday organized by the Ministry, represented by the Department of Religious Call and Guidance, in order to honor the outstanding imams, muezzins and preachers who passed the qualification courses offered by the Ministry in 2021.

The Director of the Department of Religious Call and Guidance at the Ministry Mal Allah Abdulrahman Al Jaber said in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the department aims to develop the knowledge and skills of imams, muezzins and preachers in Islamic sciences, as it falls within the programs and activities of the Department of Da'wah and Islamic Studies, which seeks to emphasize the status of Islamic science.

Al Jaber explained that the Ministry trained and qualified 1,052 imams, preachers, muezzins and legal muftis accredited to the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs in its training programs implemented this year included 44 various training courses, amounting to 786 training hours.

He noted that there will be future cooperation with the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies at Qatar University to organize joint training programs and pointed out that the Ministry sends Qatari students to study at Qatar University.

The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs attaches great importance to programs for developing imams, muezzins and preachers in the fields of advocacy and Islamic sciences and believe in their active role in upgrading the values and morals of members of Qatari society, he highlighted.
