Doha, Qatar: As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen community partnership and promote the culture of fulfilling the obligation of zakat, the Zakat Affairs Department at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs participated in the “Zeenatah” Exhibition held at Al Hazm Mall.

The aim was to introduce the department’s services for calculating and paying zakat electronically, and to raise public awareness about zakat rulings, its Sharia purposes, and its constructive impact on wealth development and community service.

The department honoured businessman Mohammed Abdul Karim Al-Emadi, owner of Al Hazm Mall, in recognition of his efforts and his support of the department’s activities and programmes as well as allocating space within the exhibition for introducing the department’s services.

It noted that cooperation with private sector institutions is a key pillar in the success of the Zakat Affairs Department’s projects and contributes to achieving sustainable social development goals, which are among the main pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030.

Ahmed Jaber Al-Jarboei, Head of Zakat Services Section, affirmed that the initiative of allocating exhibition spaces enables the public to directly learn about the department’s digital services for calculating and paying zakat.

It also enhances societal awareness of zakat’s role in achieving social justice, community solidarity, and protecting society from poverty and social problems, in line with the social protection strategy implemented by the state through its institutions.

He pointed out that the Zakat Affairs Department plays a pivotal role in supporting this strategy by collecting zakat funds and distributing them to their legitimate beneficiaries, and by funding social and developmental programmes that help improve the living standards of eligible groups, achieve economic balance, and strengthen social solidarity. For his part, Mohammed Abdul Karim Al-Emadi expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Zakat Affairs Department for this kind gesture, praising its active role in serving society.

He also affirmed his commitment to continuing cooperation with the department in initiatives that contribute to spreading the culture of zakat and enhancing the spirit of social responsibility, in a way that serves the public interest and strengthens compassion and solidarity within Qatari society.

This honouring comes as part of the Zakat Affairs Department’s efforts to enhance communication with its partners from business leaders and institutions, and in recognition of their contributions to supporting the department’s programmes and activities.

It also contributes to achieving its humanitarian and social mission in serving zakat givers and beneficiaries, and in reinforcing the values of solidarity and benevolence within society.
