Doha: Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani spoke at a joint press conference in Cairo today, with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates of the Arab Republic of Egypt HE Dr. Badr Abdelatty.

HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs declares:

  • Our visit comes within the framework of the Sixth Session of the Joint Higher Committee, and is a clear embodiment of the vision the Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, to strengthen relations between Qatar and Egypt, which have witnessed remarkable development in recent years.

  • We appreciate the support of Arab and Islamic countries and our partnership with the United States, but we are waiting for a concerted effort from the Israeli side to reach an agreement that includes a ceasefire and an exchange of prisoners, which was unfortunately met with disregard.

  • An announcement was made regarding joint investments worth $7.5 billion, and we are working to complete agreements for joint projects. There is also a tangible growth in trade exchange and expansion in multiple fields, including culture, agriculture, and social solidarity.

  • I affirm in this context that the State of Qatar and the Arab Republic of Egypt continue their firm commitment to seeking to end the war on Gaza, despite the misleading and disruptive attempts that aim to undermine these efforts and diminish their importance.

  • The Iranian nuclear file represents one of the prominent security issues that affect the interests of all countries in the region, and it requires exerting concerted efforts to reach a diplomatic settlement that ensures regional security and stability.

  • Our relations are based on solid foundations at the leadership and popular levels, and work is currently underway to build a new economic infrastructure to pave the way for an advanced stage of economic cooperation between Qatar and Egypt.

  • We attach great importance to strengthening joint coordination. We have clearly seen a consensus in views on regional issues, and we are striving for a common approach to find solutions and to limit the ongoing escalation and its pace in a number of countries.

  • Unfortunately, today we are witnessing irresponsible Israeli practices in both Lebanon and Syria, which pose a threat to the stability and security of the region, without any deterrent measures from the international community.
