Doha : Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has concluded its seasonal camping clinic operations in the Sealine area after providing emergency and clinical services to campers and visitors from November last year to April 15.
Ali Abdulla Al Khater, Chief Communications Officer, Corporate Communications Department, and Manager, Sealine Medical Clinic Project, HMC; Mohamed Mubarak Al Noimi, Chief of Communications and Chief of Staff of HMC’s Managing Director’s Office; and Ali Darwish, Assistant Executive Director, Ambulance Service, attended an event to mark the closing of the clinic. Al Khater expressed gratitude and appreciation to the medical, nursing, Ambulance Service and administrative staff who contributed to the success of the clinic. He also thanked the Ministry of Environment for their continuous support for the clinic.
Al Khater stressed HMC’s yearly commitment to the continuous running of the medical clinic to provide clinical services, including urgent care, to campers during the annual camping seasons in the Sealine area and to visitors to Al Khor- Al Udade area.
Hamid Ghareeb, Medical Supervisor at the clinic and Consultant, Medical Administration Department, HMC, said the clinic provided clinical and emergency services for 25 weekends during the camping season, treating 734 patients. “Of this figure, over 600 were adult males while there were 42 females and 77 children. Most of the cases received full treatment at the clinic while 67 cases were transported to one of HMC’s hospitals by the ambulance and LifeFlight service,” he said.
According to Ghareeb, 572 patients, including 483 Qatari and 251 expatriates, were treated for mild and moderate illnesses such as fever and stomach aches, diarrhoea, cough, wounds, burns, asthma while severe cases treated included bone fractures and heart attacks. The clinic was equipped with equipment and medications and staffed with a physician and nurse round the clock. Ambulance Service also ensured 24-hour coverage of the area by providing ambulances and paramedics.
