Bangladesh Ambassador Ashud Ahmed hoisting the National Flag on the occasion of the Independence and National Day of Bangladesh at the embassy premises on Sunday.
The Embassy of Bangladesh in Doha observed the 46th anniversary of the great Independence and National Day on March 26, 2017.
The programme began in the morning with hoisting of the National Flag by Ambassador Ashud Ahmed at the embassy premises in presence of embassy officials and a large number of Bangladesh expatriates.
After the flag hoisting, Doa was offered for the eternal peace of the departed souls of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and the martyrs of the Liberation War as well as for the continued peace and progress of the country.
A discussion on the significance of the Day was organised at the embassy premises. A minute's silence was observed as a mark of respect for the martyrs of the Liberation War. The messages from the Bangladeshi President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs were read out.
In his speech, the Ambassador recalled the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the four leaders for their immense contribution to the liberation of Bangladesh.
Addressing the expatriate community, he reminded them that traditionally Bangladesh has been sending unskilled workers and the need for such workers in Qatar is likely to come down after the 2022 World Cup in Doha.
"We all have to look for the sectors where skilled workers can find jobs. Meanwhile, we are also taking initiatives to explore other sectors like trade, investment and business.
The Embassy is also working to enhance Bangladesh-Qatar bilateal relations through high level visits from both sides," he said.
