DOHA: Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) paediatric services has been certified with a Gold Seal of Approval in healthcare from the internationally-renowned and independent Joint Commission International (JCI).
HMC recently underwent two months of on-site inspections by JCI, which identifies measures and shares best practice in quality and patient safety worldwide.
Since the beginning of this January, a team of JCI experts and inspectors have examined over 1,400 measurable elements in the hospitals which make up HMC — all of which have received accreditation under the Academic Medical Centre standards.
HMC remains one of the few international organisations that have achieved the accreditation for all its healthcare entities.
To provide the best care for babies and children, HMC has expanded facilities and introduced quality services in paediatric care.
“Caring for the growing number of newborns at Women’s Hospital in Doha, Qatar, is a top priority for HMC. By expanding our facilities and enhancing services, we enable our newborn and neonatal teams to deliver the safest, most effective and most compassionate care to each of our patients,” said Dr Hilal Al Rifai, Medical Director, Women’s Hospital, and Director, Neonatal/Perinatal Services.
Women’s Hospital has expanded its highly specialised, advanced Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for high-risk newborns, making it the largest unit in the region.
The hospital also partnered with Ambulance Services to launch a nationwide emergency transportation service that transports critically ill babies from all public and private hospitals to the NICU for specialist tertiary treatment.
Hamad General Hospital has introduced a new child friendly, state-of-the-art clinic for its paediatric patients. Children visiting the clinic are seen by the same multi-disciplinary team over time, creating a closer relationship between the child, their family and the care team.
The Paediatric Emergency Centre (PEC) in Al Sadd has been expanded to provide additional space and equipment to increase patient satisfaction.
“We have achieved significant progress towards the development of paediatric services due to the commitment, hard work and dedication of HMC staff at our facilities. They exemplify HMC’s commitment to provide the best patient care and continuity of care in the country,” said Dr Mohammad Janahi, Chairman, Paediatrics at HMC.
