The Central Municipal Council (CMC) forwarded two recommendations to the Ministry of Municipality and Environment on villa partitioning and allotment of plots in Al Khor. The Council recommended that all municipalities do their best to stop villa partitioning and ongoing sub-leasing practices by enforcing applicable rules and regulations.
The ministry has been asked to set up permanent solutions for this phenomenon by studying possibility of increasing height of buildings in some areas to accommodate increasing population.
In his suggestion to the council, CMC Chairman Mohammed bin Hammoud Al Shafi said during the past years partitioning of villas and other residential units for subletting has become rampant in a clear violation of the law.
This is happening without permission from competent authorities, said Al Shafi.
The Ministry has explained that all municipalities are taking measures to prevent this practice and they are working to find a solution and meet the need for more residential units. The council also recommended the ministry allocate land plots with area of 50sqm in Al Khor for setting up a central market to serve the Northern part of the county.
The recommendation was based on suggestion made by the member Nasser bin Ibrahim Al Muhannadi, representative of constituency 25.
The council gave another proposal on monitoring the use of plastic bags for packing hot bread to the Service and Facilities Committee of the council for further study.
The suggestion was made by member Sheikha bint Yousef Al-Jufairi, representative of constituency No 8.
