Palestinian “Dabke” dance at the Cultural Diversity Festival at Katara Amphitheatre last weekend.
As part of its aim of bringing nations closer to each other, the Cultural Village Foundation – Katara hosted several cultural events last weekend.
Within the annual Cultural Diversity Festival, the Katara Amphitheatre witnessed traditional shows from Singapore and Palestine which presented the culture of both nations through the performances of the folkloric groups.
The shows witnessed huge turnout by visitors who enjoyed the performance of the Palestinian traditional dance “Dabke.” Many of those in the audience were introduced to the culture of Palestinians for the first time.
The Singaporean folklore show included some of the most famous national dances and music in Singapore presented by the world-knowned troupe “Sri Warisan.”
On the other hand, the Qatari folkloric band “Al Jubailat” performed several traditional Qatari songs and dances which simulate the maritime-related culture in the olden days. The Qatari group performed at the Katara esplanade within Katara’s programme of reviving the old heritage.
