DOHA: Qatar Foundation for Education (QF) has been presented with the gold award by Royal Society for Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Occupational Health and Safety Awards during an official ceremony in Glasgow, UK.
The accolade demonstrates QF’s dedication to raising health and safety standards in Qatar and commitment to create a positive and proactive environment in the workplace.
Sheikha Amal Al Thani, Executive Director, HSSE, QF, said, “We are delighted to have been presented with the award, especially from such a renowned organisation such as RoSPA. Workplace safety is a culture and the award is deserved recognition as it confirms our continued commitment to provide the highest possible standards of health and safety in the workplace.”
Receiving the award, Mohammed Ahmed Bakhamis, Director, HSE, QF, said. “To receive such a gold award after our first attempt is a fantastic achievement, and we are proud to have been recognised in this way,” he said. The award recognises a very high level of performance, demonstrating well-developed occupational health and safety management systems and culture, outstanding control of risk, and very low levels of error, harm and loss.
David Rawlins, Awards Manager, RoSPA, said, “The awards encourage improvement in occupational health and safety management. Organisations that gain recognition for health and safety management systems, such as QF, contribute to raising standards overall and we congratulate them.”
The RoSPA is a registered charity and has been at the heart of accident prevention in the UK and around the world for almost 100 years. It promotes safety and prevention of accidents at work, at leisure, on the road, in homes, and through safety education.
Sharing similar values, it encouraged QF to become a member in 2015 and enter into the annual awards.
