Experts submit 130 abstracts ahead of Doha conference

Doha: Scholars submitted 130 abstracts ahead of a conference on impact of oil prices volatility on economic growth of countries in the Middle East and North Africa, the Middle East Economic Association (MEEA) said.
Doha Institute for Graduate Studies' (DI) School of Public Administration and Development Economics will host the 15th International Annual Conference here from March 23 to 25 next year.
The title of the conference is 'Impact of Oil Price Changes on the Economic Growth and Development in the MENA Countries'.
School of Public Administration and Development Economics Dean Professor Hassan Y. Aly said, "We received 50 more abstracts than we did in past MEEA conferences and the number of participants who authored or co-authored the paper's proposals exceeded 200."
More than 35 countries will participate in this conference. In addition to submissions from Arab countries, Iran, Turkey, Europe, the US, Canada, and Australia, countries such as Indonesia, South Korea, Cyprus, and Malaysia are participating for the first, he said.
World-renowned economists will participate in the conference including Harvard University Professor James A. Robinson, the author of the books 'Why Nations Fail: The Origins of Power, Prosperity, and Poverty'. 
World Bank's Chief Economist for MENA Shantayanan Devarajan is one of the noted participants.
Tunis, Dubai, Istanbul, and Alexandria cities hosted previous MEEA conferences. Doha will host it for the first time.
Doha-based DI is an independent institute for learning and research in social sciences, humanities, public administration and development economics.
