A combination picture of the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Father Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani has gone viral among Qatari social media users. A hashtag calling to change the profile picture to this combination pic is also trending on Qatar social media.

Many Twitter and Instagram users in Qatar have changed their profile picture to this picture of Emir and Father Emir in a show of support to the country and the leadership.

Many have also tweeted their support and the hashtag ( #القطريون_يوحدون_صوره_العرض) is trending on twitter for some time now.

H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani has also changed his profile picture on twitter and Instagram to this combination picture of the Emir and Father Emir.

Qatar’s Olympic hero Mutaz Barshim has also changed his profile picture.

Many officials and verified Twitter accounts are also following the trend. Some users from other countries like Kuwait and Sudan have also joined the cause and changed their profile picture on twitter.

Some international media outlets are running false news against Qatar for the past few days even after senior officials denounced the news as fake.

The website of Qatar News Agency (QNA) got hacked on Wednesday and unfounded news was posted on it, falsely attributing to the Emir. The website was brought back under control after four hours.

"There is a hostile media campaign against the state of Qatar, which we will confront," Foreign Minister H E Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani told reporters on Thursday.

An investigation team has been set up and is conducting investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice, he said, noting that the findings of the investigation would be revealed in a transparent manner both in terms of the investigation process and its findings.

The Foreign Minister also expressed his surprise over the attitude of some of the media outlets, which is broadcasting and commenting on this false news even after statements by QNA and government officials denouncing the news falsely attributed to the Emir.
