Doha: Within the framework of its Ramadan programme, and in conjunction with the International Day of Theatre, the Cultural Village Foundation, Katara, will hold today at 9:30pm a symposium entitled “Qatari Theatre - Between Reality and Aspiration,” which will be hosted by the Drama Theater in Building 16.
Dr. Hassan Rashid, Hamad Al Rumaihi and Jassim Ahmed Al Ansari are the panellists for the symposium.
Katara has also extended a general invitation to the public to attend and follow the play “Gypsies of the Sea” at 8:30pm in the Drama Theater Building 16. It is noteworthy that this play won many awards, the latest of which was at the fourth Sharjah Gulf Theater Festival in February.
The play is also considered one of the masterpieces of the Qatar Theatrical Ensemble, written by Talib Al Dous, directed by Nasser Abdel Ridha, and with the participation of Faisal Rashid, Ahmed Aklan, Nasser Habib, Muhammad Al Mulla, Munther Thani, and Rawan Halawi. On the other hand, Katara will open today at 9pm in Building 18, the exhibition “And to Parents in Kindness,” with the participation of a group of artists presenting their works inspired by the theme of honouring parents. Katara Ramadan programme includes a variety of events, activities and competitions.
