Doha: Students of CBSE schools will soon be appearing for their board exams.  AP Sharma (pictured), Principal of Birla Public School (BPS) Doha, has written an open letter for students to calm their nerves.

His advice to students is to dream about success only while preparing for exams. Addressing the students, he said that just in few days you will be appearing for CBSE Board Exams. Please do remember that this is just part of your routine in life.

Each one of you will shine but in different walks of life. Most of us in life, who appeared in such exams are enjoying “blessing in disguise”, through almighty’s invisible intervention. Hence this exam is not the only one incident to decide your Destiny.

In 2025, the society will be composed of all kind of jobs out of which many jobs will cease to exist. You are appearing in many subjects, out of which ultimately you will become master of one only, which may or may not be included in these exams.

Just concentrate on “Smart Work” and look forward to the next subject paper with more enthusiasm.

Do not think negative, Talk to your family in case you come across depressing feelings. Your parents are equally worried about your performance, hence give them assurance that you will do your best. Certainly, parents will standby you irrespective of the outcome of this exam.

Many of you are living with fancy career goals in life but you are unable to disclose them. Few of you wants to be an artist, radio jockey, Lawyer, Scientist, Pilot, Fiction Actor, Journalist & many other unconventional jobs etc. The outcome of this exam will hardly affect your dreams. Please understand, maybe a bigger accomplishment is waiting for you.

Keep yourself composed as this is not going to be the last exam of your life. Prepare backup plans and remind yourself “ I will do it’.

“Please dream about success only, while preparing for your exams. As your parents, teachers and much more are praying to the almighty. Your dreams will come true.” Hence don’t dream about failure.

Please take care of following things while writing exams:

1. Among all the most important thing is your geometry box, an evening before paper, see that pens are working, pencils are sharp and admit card is kept in it. (Do not carry any geometric box in which few Math formulas are printed). Students are advised to wear digital watch and keep it in front of you on the exam desk.

2. Fill all the entries on answer script carefully before attempting answers, draw margins in the copy for Maths, Physics etc. for rough work.

3. As soon as you receive the paper, close your eyes for 30 seconds and then start reading the question paper (15 minutes are allotted for reading).

4. You may underline important words and parts of the question but don’t write anything on the question paper. At the back of Answer scripts, you may jot down planning of some question (on rough page).

5. Plan the order of attempting question papers in advance. Do not stick to any question for a long time. Leave it for the end after leaving sufficient space for the same. Try to attempt questions in order by leaving “anticipated space” for unattempted questions.

6. If you are not sure then you may attempt your favourite question in the beginning to create a good impression for the evaluator.

7. Leave two lines after every answer and do not overlap the answers. Try to write in legible handwriting. If you find time, in the end, revise properly and underline important strategic words. Do not draw the diagram if not asked in question as an error in that may affect your marks. Mark “?” against the question you would like to add some content while revising at the end. Encircle the Q. No. you have attempted quite confidently. Try to do rough work of the question on the same page in margin drawn. You might get the benefit of doubt and avoid mistakes in copying.

8. Just breathe in and breathe out after every 30 minutes (take only 30 seconds) it will supply sufficient oxygen to the brain for optimum output. Do not change the ink of the pen, in case if you do so take initial of invigilator.

9. Tie the supplementary sheets properly and arrange them in order by putting up Sr. No on the top.

10. Write the answer in points (keep the same number of points as per marks. Keep sufficient sharpen pencils and sufficient “used pens” in geometry box.

11. Generally, don’t discuss the paper after completion and start concentrating on the next paper.

12. If you are taking some medication carry prescription. Let it be with the teacher escort of your school going with you to the centre.

13. Twelve percent of students feel panic during exams looking at the watch (wrongly).  Fifteen percent misread the questions and eighteen percent do mistake while copying from rough to fair. Do not repeat the questions to fool the examiner. Please check that you have put up correct Sr. no of questions against answer.

He concluded by reminding the students that the teachers along with your parents, are always there to help and stand by you in all circumstances and are praying to the almighty for your success
