Cultural Forum Qatar, has announced to organise its fourth sports extravaganza for Indian expatriates under the title ‘Expats SportEv 2020’ on February 7 and 11, 2020 at Qatar Sports Club, marking the State of Qatar’s National Sport Day.
The announcement was made in press conference held yesterday. The Expats SportEv has become one of the most popular sporting events of its kind among Indian expatriates.
Earlier, Akram Afif, Qatar national football team player, Al Sadd Club striker and Asian Football Player of the Year 2019, had unveiled the logo of the Expats SportEv 2020 in a ceremony held at Al Sadd Sports Club. In a separate ceremony, the technical manual of the event was released by A P Manikandan, President of Indian Cultural Centre.  
Apart from different organisations representing the Indian community, other communities will also participate in this year’s massive March Past, scheduled to be held on February 7 from 3pm heralding the start of the competition. This colourful procession will showcase sports achievements as well as cultural specialities of both Qatar and India. 
The opening ceremony will be attended by prominent athletes from both Qatar and India, Qatari dignitaries, office-bearers of various Indian organisations and leaders of other community organisations.
As many as 800 athletes from 13 teams will compete for top honours in various individual items such as 100M, 200M, 800M and 1500M races, long jump, high jump, shot put, and arm wrestling. 
The group items include 4x100M relay, volleyball, shuttle badminton (double), penalty shoot-out, tug of war and march past. There are separate contests for male and female athletes in four categories.  
The teams include Al Khor Youth Club, Qatar Kananaya Cultural Association, Youth Forum, Sports Association for kereala, (SAK), SKEA Qatar, ICA Alumni, Calicut Sports Club, Team Tirur, Kerala Association for Sports ( KAS), United Nurses Indian Qatar (UNIQ), YAS, Syro Malabar Cultural Association, and Kizhuparam Pravasi Welfare Association.
The concluding ceremony of the event is scheduled to be held on February 11. Officials from the Ministry of Culture and Sports, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Public Health, and Qatar Football Association, will attend the event. Cultural performances by children and adults will enthrall the 5000+plus audience who are expected to turn up to watch the spectacle.
