Birla Public School celebrated the 71st Republic Day of India with an array of patriotic events yesterday at its main campus.
C V Rappai, school Director, unfurled the national flag, accompanied by Mohammed Farooq, life member, Birla Public School; Nevile Lukose, Management Representative; the Principal, and Vice-Principals.
It was followed by a rendition of the National Anthem by the school band. A grand parade by the school Scouts and Guides members was much appreciated by all attendees, who viewed everything enthusiastically.
Delivering the Republic Day Message, C V Rappai, quoted the words of Baba Saheb Ambedkar and emphasised that as the Republic Day exemplified the celebration of the Indian Constitution, each Indian and student should revisit the Preamble and live the values of equality and freedom in its true essence.
In his address A P Sharma, Principal, underscored the need for recognising the greatness of a nation spread from east to west, south to north, including various cultures, caste and creed and yet breathing as a single soul. Using the medium of Hindi, he added that unity is the greatest strength of India and Birla Public School too, as the school hosts students who belong to more than 25 different cultural backgrounds.
The patriotic songs by the School Choir and the vibrant display of physical prowess by students, reflected the exuberant emotions of each listener and accentuated national fervour. A Speech by Ardra Sunil, student representative, called attention to the fact that on this day “we young people can make ideas into reality, of building new better systems, creating a new vision and identity with unity”.
The boisterous dance performances added to the patriotic ambience of the day. While expressing gratitude to all present, Rajesh Pillai, Vice-Principal, co-scholastics, added the fact that the importance of today was proved through the united effort taken by all to make this programme a huge success.
