DOHA: Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) took 60 schoolchildren on a week-long trip to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah and visit the holy places in Makkah and Madina.
The trip was organised by the community youth centre of RAF under its religious programme “Safa wa Naqa”. The programme is being held every year for secondary and preparatory students. Lectures on religious, educational and moral topics were given by the accompanying guides during the visit.
The students also visited the factory that makes clothes used for covering K’abah (kiswat al-ka’bah). The factory has units equipped with state-of-the-art machinery used for dying, embroidering, adorning, and stitching the Kiswa. The factory also has the largest sewing machine.
The students visited the museum in Makkah that showcases some 1,500 antique pieces dating back to the era of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). In Madina, the students were taken to an exhibition on the Holy Quran. The youth center organises such religious trips every year. Last year 154 students were taken for the tour.  The Peninsula
