Doha: Al Daayen Municipality conducted seven campaigns at evening on food outlets to ensure compliance of health rules last month.
The inspectors of Health Monitoring Section at the Municipality made 569 inspection visits to food outlets in November. The campaigns resulted in recording 12 violations of some provisions of Law No. 8 of 1990.
Five food samples were taken to the central laboratory in which the reports suggested two samples unfit for human consumption. The legal actions were taken against the erring outlets. The health monitoring sector received 13 complaints during the period of study which were responded immediately.
Meanwhile, the General Control Department of Al Daayen Municipality, during regular inspection visits recorded two violations of general hygiene. The violations were related to disposal of construction and demolition waste in undesignated place in the Wadi Al Banat and Rawdat Al Hamama area. The action was taken following the provisions of Law No. 18 of 2017 regarding general cleanliness.
The General Cleanliness Department of carried out a cleaning campaign for the northwest beaches of the country, from Bozulouf Beach to Al Jamil. The campaign resulted in the removal of 25 tonnes of waste, consisting of empty cans, plastic bags and drums. A total of 25 workers and three vehicles participated in the campaign.
The Ministry of Municipality, represented by General Cleanliness Department intensified its efforts during National Day celebrations, especially on December 18 and 19.
It intensified its efforts to clean and sweep the main streets, in addition to washing all the containers in the distributed points, and lifting and unloading a large number of existing containers.
General cleaning work continued round the clock during the National Day holiday period. The efforts resulted in the removal of 24 tonnes of miscellaneous waste. A total of 470 cleaners participated in the campaign. Thirty-two equipment for sweeping, 21 vehicles used to collect waste, in addition to 29 observers for workers and 53 drivers engaged in the operation.
