PSA celebrates Gulf Statistics Day 2021

Doha: The Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA) celebrated the Gulf Statistics Day, which is marked on December 24 across GCC countries.

PSA organised a programme at its headquarters to mark the day following COVID-19 preventive measures, in addition to publishing reports about the topic on its social media platforms.

The day emphases the importance of the role of statistics in the planning process and valuing the efforts of employees in this field, as well as consolidating the partnership among GCC countries. To enhances cooperation among GCC states in the field of statistics, the Statistical Center of GCC was established in September 2011.

The Centre is making efforts to provide accurate statistical information, indicators and data that contribute to setting strategic plans for sustainable development, and achieving contemporary visions of the GCC countries towards promoting economic growth and diversifying its sources.

The commemoration of Gulf Statistics Day is based on the decision of the Ministerial Council of the Cooperation Council for GCC at its 41st session, in confirmation of the importance of statistical figures and their being an integral part of the planning process for sustainable development in countries.
