Doha: Programme administrators, managers, and policymakers are invited to sign up for an executive course taking place in February entitled Improving Programmes through Performance Measurement and Management.

The course is made possible via a collaboration between the College of Public Policy (CPP) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) and the University of Maryland (UMD), combining the expertise and resources of two leading educational institutions. It is designed to give participants the tools to design and use performance measures that can monitor programme efficiency and effectiveness and to implement management techniques that apply performance data to improve programmes.

Topics for the three-day course include using logic models to identify performance indicators, operationalising measures and performance targets, monitoring programme processes and conducting performance evaluations, measuring programme effectiveness, cost-effectiveness analyses, and management techniques that use performance data to improve programmes. An optional fourth day will focus on using performance data to improve programme.

Dr. Anis Ben Brik, Associate Professor of Evaluation at CPP, said: “Thanks to our recent memorandum of understanding with the University of Maryland, this collaboration can take place. The UMD School of Public Policy ranks among the top 25 graduate schools of public policy in the US, and we are confident this course will provide invaluable practical experience that participants can put to use in their everyday lives.”
