Amir’s stance towards Palestine issue commendable: Turkish envoy

Doha, Qatar: Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to the State of Qatar, H E Dr. Mustafa Göksu, praised the Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s speech yesterday in front of the Qatari Shura Council.

Dr. Göksu stated that the Amir delivered a strong message to the world, expressing his strong rejection of Israeli practices in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories.

The envoy also appreciated the Amir’s strong condemnation of the Israeli bombardment of Gaza, which resulted in the deaths of hundreds of innocent people, including children and women. He emphasised on his adherence to the the Palestinian people’s full legitimate rights, especially their right to an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Ambasador Göksu stated that Türkiye’s position aligns with what the Amir stated yesterday, emphasising that the only solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is the two-state solution, which has been ignored over the years, leading to this unprecedented deterioration of the situation.

The Turkish Ambassador clarified that the Amir’s stance in his speech clearly reflects Qatar’s honourable and consistent position on the Palestinian issue and its continuous commitment to supporting Palestinian rights. This position comes at a time when the Palestinian issue faces significant challenges due to ongoing Israeli occupation, settlement activities, killings, and oppression of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. The Turkish Ambassador also praised the Amir’s insistence on not applying double standards in dealing with Palestinian victims and stressed the importance of ending the war, stopping the bloodshed, and protecting the lives of civilians from all parties.

Dr. Göksu considered that the Amir’s speech in front of the Shura Council sends a clear message to the international community that there are strong voices standing with the Palestinian people and demanding their just rights.

He expressed hope that the positions of both Türkiye and Qatar would contribute to pressuring the international community to take serious measures to stop the war in Gaza and achieve a just and lasting peace in the region.
