DOHA: Al Meera Consumer Goods Company is offering 1,437 items at cost price as part of its special offers for the forthcoming holy month of Ramadan.

The offer, to be available in a few days will continue until the end of the holy month at all Al Meera branches across the country, the company said yesterday.

Al Meera, in coordination with its local suppliers, is preparing to provide offers on a larger number of consumer products — around 850 items — in addition to approximately 300 deals on household and kitchenware items.

The company is also working to provide adequate quantities of “Tamween” (subsidised items) for Qatari citizens at 31 branches of the company across the country.

Dr Mohammed Nasser Al Qahtani, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Al Meera said: “We are keen to provide the consumer with the best offers during the holy month of Ramadan. And this year, we wanted the offer to have a different taste, as we are pleased to allocate 1437 products at cost price, in honor of the year 1437 AH.”

Al Meera said it will support Ramadan projects and programmes carried out by associations and charitable organisations in the country, such as Eid Charity, Qatar Charity, and Qatar Red Crescent, according to available resources.

Al Meera will coordinate with the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs for distribution of water and paper tissues during ‘Tarawih’ Prayers at major mosques in the country during the holy month.

Within days, it will announce  Ramadan campaigns and special offers, with its partners such as Ooredoo and Qatar National Bank (QNB).
The company said it is working on completion of its plan to establish 14 new branches in various regions of the country, in addition to five shopping centres in North Sailiya (Al Miarad), Leabaib 2, Al Wakrah (West), Umm Salal Ali, and Bu Sidra, which are expected to be opened in the next three months.
The company has signed contracts with Al Khayarin Group Contracting and Trading and Al Muftah Contracting Company to build six new stores with a total contract value of over QR238.73m.
Al Muftah Contracting Company will handle executive works at Al Meera branches in Rawdat Aba El Heran, Azghawa, Leabaib and Umm Qarn. Al Khayarin Group Contracting and Trading will work on establishing two new Al Meera stores in Al Khor and Saileya, on a land area of 15,000sqm each.
Al Meera has also signed a memorandum of understanding for operation and management of two shopping centres, in Fox Hills North and North Residential Villas districts in Lusail City.
Its expansion plans also include the opening of new branches at Qatar Foundation. Negotiations are under way to sign contracts for the operation of two spaces at student housings (around 80sqm each), and a space at Students Centre in Education City (about 150sqm). The company is also negotiating with Doha Institute For Graduate Studies to operate a supermarket to serve the institute’s students.
