Doha: Total will support the Qatar Foundation Annual Research conference and be exhibitor at the Qatar National Convention Centre on November 24 and 25.
As the focus of the conference is pressing on research challenges, Total and particularly the Total Research Center – Qatar (TRC-Q) will showcase expertise and research achievements in different fields: carbonate reservoirs (geochemistry, acid stimulation of wells), metrology (smart metering of hydrocarbons production, measurement of the air quality) and petrochemicals (catalysis for CO2 conversion). Another major focus on Total’s booth will be solar energy. Total, is stepping up its ongoing investment in solar power.
For nearly 30 years, specialists at Total and in its subsidiaries have progressed across the photovoltaic solar energy chain, fostering the emergence of a reliable, efficient and cost-effective technology. In 2011, by becoming the majority shareholder of SunPower, the world’s third-ranked solar energy operator, Total has given new impetus to its development. Total booth will be located next to Qatar Petroleum (QP) booth, a partner in oil and gas and in research. TRC-Q runs in-house projects and joins efforts with QP and others.
Total and QP signed a research frame agreement to develop joint research programmes in November 2011 and it was followed in May 2012 by the signing between QP and Total of a specific research agreement on acid stimulation and in February 2013 by the signing between QP, Total and Q-Analytica of another specific research agreement on geochemistry.
