Doha, Qatar: Customs authorities thwarted an attempt to smuggle banned substances into Qatar.
The department stated that Lyrica pills were found stuffed inside an air conditioner. A video shared on its social media platforms showed that the pills were found after authorities took apart the appliance. A total of 1,200 Lyrica pills were seized.

A few days ago, a smuggling attempt was also thwarted by the Customs Department at Hamad International Airport. The attempt was foiled upon the inspector's suspicion of concealing foreign objects in the stomach of the traveller.
The Customs Department has been warning against bringing illegal goods into the country. They are equipped with all means of support including the latest devices and continuous training to read the body language of passengers and to be aware of the latest methods followed by smugglers.
