Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced that it will temporarily close a 2km section between Al Qalaa Interchange and Al Wajba Interchange on Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street, as shown in the map.
The diversion starts tomorrow  and lasts two weeks, in coordination with the Traffic Police Department.
Road users travelling from Bani Hajer towards Doha will be diverted from Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street onto Al Wajba Street and can turn left onto Al Qalaa Street and then exit right at the roundabout to rejoin Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street.
Road users travelling from Doha towards Bani Hajer will be diverted from Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street onto Al Qalaa Street and can turn right onto Al Wajba Street to rejoin Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street and continue journey.  The diversion is required to facilitate the laying of permanent asphalt on the first phase of Al Rayyan Road Upgrade project.

To minimise disruption to families, schoolchildren and teaching staff, Ashghal is keen to complete works and make the section available for public use before the re-opening of schools.
Ashghal expects to complete the entire project, converting a 2.9km stretch of Al Rayyan Road into a dual carriageway, four lanes in each direction with three interchanges, by the end of first quarter of 2017.
Ashghal will install signs advising motorists of the diversion and has urged road users to abide by the existing 80kmph speed limit and follow signs for safety.
Meanwhile, Ashghal said a two-month ramp closure will be in place at the eastern side of Al Sakhama Interchange on Al Shamal Road tomorrow.
Commuters coming from Doha towards the northern areas using B-Ramp of Al Sakhama Interchange will be diverted to the western side of the North Road Corridor to travel through a dual two-lane service road to Umm Al Amad Interchange to access Al Shamal Road, as shown in the map.
The detour is required to facilitate construction of a new signal-controlled junction on the eastern side of the Al Sakhama Interchange.
Ashghal will place directional and advisory signage and urged road users to abide by speed limits in place along the diversions and observe all signs and instructions to ensure their and others’ safety.

The upgrade of Al Sakhama Interchange is part of the North Corridor Enhancement project, including construction of service roads along the North Road from Al Duhail Interchange, northern Doha, to Al Shamal city, north of Qatar.
The project to enhance the connection with the new development projects near the highway, also comprises construction of two new interchanges in Izghawa and Umm Salal Mohammed areas, and improvements to three interchanges, including Al Sakhama Interchange and Al Kaaban Interchange.
Al Khor Road will also be upgraded with a link road between the North Road and Umm Birkah Road and a cycle path will be built along the North Road.
The contractor of the North Road enhancement project has achieved over 10 million man hours without loss time injury
Ashghal will also divert traffic on a section of Temporary Truck Route as shown in the map. The diversion, about 2.3km south of Dukhan Highway-Temporary Truck Route Interchange, will be implemented in coordination with the Traffic Police Department. Diversion begins tomorrow and lasts 12 months.
Road users travelling in both directions along Temporary Truck Route will be diverted to a 4.6km parallel road. Ashghal anticipates that the road change should have minimal impact on transit time for vehicles using Temporary Truck Route to travel towards Salwa Road or Lusail.
The diversion is required to facilitate construction of the mainline roadway on New Orbital Highway and Truck Route project.
Ashghal will install signs to advise motorists of the closure and has urged road users to abide by the speed limit, which has been reduced to 80kmph for vehicles and 50kmph  for trucks and follow signs for safety.
