Doha: The State of Qatar expressed great concern and disappointment with the caretaker government of Afghanistan’s decision to suspend education in girls’ high-schools until further notice.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that these practices will have negative implications on human rights, developments and the economy of Afghanistan.

The statement said Qatar, as a Muslim country where women enjoy all their rights, including education, calls on the caretaker government of Afghanistan to revisit its decision in line with the teachings of Islam in relation to women rights.

The ministry renewed Qatar’s position of supporting the Afghan people’s rights, led by their right to education, and said its deep commitment to work with their Afghan and international partners, to ensure that all segments of Afghan people from all age enjoy their right to education.
