DOHA: Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani yesterday inaugurated the 50-storey Shangri-La Hotel Doha in the heart of West Bay commercial district, amid festive celebration.
An Ardha dance and a lion dance marked the launch reflecting the hotel’s signature blend of Asian and Arabian hospitality and tradition.

H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Father Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani was also unveiled at the event attended by Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, Chairman, Al Faisal Holding and its international hotel investment subsidiary ARTIC, the hotel’s owner, and other officials.

The hotel, designed to resemble a falcon’s head in recognition of Qatari falconry — the country’s historic and elite pastime — is adorned with museum-quality art pieces honouring the rich heritage of the Qatari peninsula on loan from Sheikh Faisal’s Collection.
Located close to the business and diplomatic areas, Shangri-La Hotel Doha offers a direct link to City Centre Mall, the city’s largest mall, and is five minutes from the waterfront promenade. It has 272 guest rooms and suites featuring contemporary and elegant design and 42 fully serviced and furnished apartments.
The hotel has seven food and beverage outlets, including a Chinese restaurant and club/lounge on levels 43 and 44. Its Horizon Club is the largest executive lounge in Doha, on level 42 with 360-degree panoramic views.
