MET warns of poor horizontal visibility

Doha: Weather inshore until 6 pm on Saturday will be hazy to misty/foggy at first becoming moderate later during daytime with some clouds and cold by night, the Department of Meteorology said in its daily weather report, warning of poor horizontal visibility in some areas at first due to fog.

Offshore, it will be hazy to misty and foggy in some areas, the report added.

Wind inshore will be mainly southwesterly at a speed less than 4 knots, becoming northwesterly at a speed of 4 to 10 knots. Offshore, it will be northwesterly at a speed of 4 to 12 knots reaching 15 Knots at times.

Visibility will be 4 to 8 kilometers and 2 kilometers or less in some areas.

Sea state inshore will be 1 to 2 feet, while offshore it will be 1 to 3 feet rising to 4 feet at times.

Even on Friday, thick fog resulted in poor visibility and affected smooth flow of traffic at at various places bringing mercury down during the last couple of nights.
