The Ministry of Interior yesterday asked campers to have first aid kits at their camps and should keep them away from children and also should keep 4kg fire extinguishers in addition to fire blankets.
The Ministry of Interior on its official twitter account also advised the campers not to light a fire near of camps and all electricity cables should be in underground-plastic-pipes meeting safety and security standards.
Since the winter camping season started, the Ministry of Interior has issued important directions to campers including advice to keep fire cylinders out and away from camps. Earlier, the Ministry had also asked campers to ensure that the space between camps should not be less than five meters and the kitchen must also be separated from other camps and gas cylinders should be placed outside the camps.
The camp itself must be made from fire-resistant materials, the Ministry further said on its official twitter account. It also advises campers to carry medicines for pain and cold and these medicines should be kept away from children.
The sites which witnessed more demand are Sealine, Al Mazroua, Umm Al Afaee, Rowdat Rashid, and Rowdat Aisha. The campers must strictly comply with camping rules and environment protection laws, and the Ministry of Municipality and Environment allowed campers for the first time to plant wild trees at the camping areas. One camper can plant a maximum of five trees such as Sidra, Al Ghaf, Al Gharat.
The camping season started on November 1 and will continue until April 15/2017 .
Last year winter camping season was successful and the number of violations decreased to ten and 60 warnings. The number of campers totaled 2,058 in more than 23 sites.
A total of 128 campers were included in the blacklist during the last two winter seasons for violating camping rules and now all those are barred from obtaining licence.
The campers who are in the blacklist for violating camping rules threaten Qatari environment and wildlife, like cutting trees, and using the camp for other purposes. The Ministry inspectors have the right to enter the camps if needed, and in case the campers object, their licence will be cancelled, and the QR10,000 guarantee will not be refunded.
