Abu Dhabi: Dolphin Energy Qatar yesterday completed its annual summer programme 2012 for high school, internship and scholarship students. The Summer Intern Programme aims to develop their academic experiences through implementing their acquired knowledge and to offer Qatari students diversified employment and business opportunities.

Fourteen students who are currently studying at Qatar University, Texas A&M and Carnegie Mellon University were joined by five  High School students for the month long programme. The participants were trained in Information Technology, Engineering, Management, Finance, Human Resources, Public Relations and Purchasing and Contracts.

“Since Dolphin Energy’s Summer Intern Programme began in 2005, more than 72 students have completed the programme and joined the company as full time employees. The programme helps students to appreciate the importance of applying theory into practice and provides an insight into working life at one of the region’s leading energy companies,” said  Adel Ahmed Albuainain, General Manager, Dolphin Energy, Qatar.

“The programme helps support our nationalisation strategy and provides opportunities to deepen our relationship with leading educational institutions in the State of Qatar. We look forward to enjoying more success as the result of this initiative,” Albuainain added.

Each member of the programme received a certificate in recognition of his/her achievement at a special ceremony held at Dolphin Energy’s offices in Doha.
